Transfer Switches

Transfer Switches
A transfer switch is a device for manually or automatically selecting between two sources of power. This may be done to provide and alternate source of power for when the main power source fails, or it could be used for purposes of optimizing and/or balancing loads. It may also be used to allow service work to be performed on one or the other power supply or connecting systems.

ROMAC's New Transfer Switch Inventory

The most common domestic transfer switch makers include ASCO (Automatic Switch Company), Russelectric, Zenith, Eaton, Cutler-Hammer. Recently, major engine generator companies such as Caterpillar, Onan and Kohler have been marketing transfer switches under their own labels.

ROMAC's Reconditioned Transfer Switches

Reconditioning is the process of returning electrical equipment to safe and reliable operating condition based upon the design of the original manufacturer at the time of manufacturing. ROMAC follows PEARL industry standards to recondition a transfer switch, including procedures to test, inspect, disassemble and recondition – including clean, polish, deoxidizing, deburr, paint, lubricate, adjust or torque individual parts of the transfer switch. After reconditioning, subassemblies can be reinstalled in the now cleaned and painted enclosure or frame, including the addition of upgrades or options to improve the apparatus’ performance. Assembly of the reconditioned components and subassemblies is followed by final inspection and testing. As with all testing, inspection and reconditioning operations, final inspection and test results are recorded onto the evaluation and test forms included with the standard.
